What is our greatest dignity?

AFC Team

Our greatest dignity as Christians consists in the fact that we are children of God and have God’s life in our souls through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We must try to live holy lives and strive always to keep God’s grace as our most precious treasure. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us live according to our great dignity as children of God and as true Christians.

We receive two lives from God. One is the natural life we receive at conception. The other is the supernatural life we receive when we are baptized as Christians. Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3).

We believe in things unseen and hope for the reward promised to those who love God. As a result, we witness the action of a superhuman power, which is divine grace operating on our minds and wills, that enables us to see and want what the purely natural man cannot understand or desire. The gifts of nature are common to the good and bad, but supernatural grace is the proper gift of the elect. They who are adorned with it are esteemed worthy of eternal life.

The Trinitarian God is the source of supernatural grace. Indeed man’s greatest dignity is that he is meant to possess supernatural life from the Father, through the Son, and in union with the Holy Spirit.

We could never earn this grace. Jesus bought supernatural grace for all men by His suffering, Death, and Resurrection. Through supernatural grace we can gain eternal life.
