How does the New Testament portray Jesus?
Throughout the New Testament, Jesus is portrayed as divine. For instance, He is described as the “Word made flesh” that is, God Who assumed human nature. He is also spoken of as Creator. St. John said: “All things were made through him” (John 1:3).
St. Paul wrote, “For in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17).
Salvation and forgiveness are found only in God. Thus Jesus is called the Savior of all, Who personally forgives sins by His own authority (cf. Luke 5:10-25).
