Is there any further evidence in the New Testament pointing to Jesus as God?

There are several passages, apart from those already cited, in which Jesus’ divinity is taught:

1. Expressing his faith in the Resurrection, St. Thomas cried out: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).

2. God the Father, speaking to Christ, addresses Him as God in the following words: “Of the Son he says, ‘Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever!’” (Hebrews 1:8).

3. “To them [i.e., belonging to the Israelites] belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed for ever. Amen” (Romans 9:5).

4. “Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped” (Philippians 2:5-6).

5. Christian life is lived in eager anticipation, “awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13; see also 2 Peter 1:1).

6. Most frequently the title “Lord” is given to Jesus. He is called this because His divinity is acknowledged. “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).

7. Jesus also applies terms to Himself which are proper to God, such as “I am,” already noted in question 77. This refers to God’s eternal existence and being. “Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58; cf. Exodus 3:14).
