What does this new life of sanctifying grace do for man?
This new life of sanctifying grace gives man the ability to participate and share in God’s own life, uniting him to the Father and to Christ in a union of love that not even death can separate.
Jesus said, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23).
The Spirit brings God’s own life to man and to everything that He does so that he is said to live in the “state of grace,” or the “state of sanctifying grace.” Sanctifying grace is a gift of God that allows us to live in Him. This life, the life of grace, is a sharing in God’s very own life.
Faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit which enables us to accept God’s Word and to realize that God loves us and that we can completely trust in Him.
We can hope because God has promised us His love and care forever, through His Son, Jesus Christ. He will never leave us as long as we remain united with Him.
Charity is the ability to love both God and man, because all men belong to God. The Holy Spirit’s presence in us means we are able to love with a love similar to God’s. We can even love our enemies.
